“Kids could tour the Baders’ Dutch Biscuit Co. factory, known for its tins of shortbread cookies, especially popular around the holidays. Alison Golub and Sarah Diers watch a baker at the company, likely circa 1980s. ”

OMG! Can’t wait for those cookies to be back! Already have family members asking me to ship some from Seattle to Puerto Rico!
My God Parent, Maddie and Tony Bader owned the Bader Biscuit Company at the current location of the the University Washington Hospital on the Ship Canal in Seattle. I remember it from my childhood.
I remember those. Will be awesome if any member of the family with the recipe re-opens the business? Certainly there is market out there! mariemangual@aol.com
Is this the same company that made shortbread cookies in Vancouver, BC in the 1950’s??
The Shortbread cookies were swirled shape….yummy.
We use to go to the back door of the factory and the cookies that were a little too brown were bagged up and sold or given away…………

My Uncle Tony owned the Baders’ in Seattle. His younger brother, my dad, Cornelius, owned the one in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Lots of us sons, daughters, cousins, uncles, aunts, all worked there. Happy memories.

Hello!
Thank-you for your patience and support!
It has taken far longer than I anticipated to bring back my
family’s bakery business. I do feel that 2019 will accomplish just that! May this post be the beginning of good (and delicious) things to come!
Thanks again!
When and Where?
I ate these cookies as a child and have been wanting to eat them again! Please let mw know when they will be available again for purchasing.
Hi
When i was a young teen in the early 70s in San Diego my dad had a business with I believe it was Carl Bader. They set up a chop recreating and packaging cookies to sell to stores for retail. The cookies were shipped to us. We didn’t bake them.
Is this the same Bader Family?
OMG I’ve been searching high and low for those blue tin cans that I remember so fondly from childhood. My coworker recently went to Holland and I asked her to look for them – I didn’t know they were made in the U.S., lol! They were my most favorite cookies in the world growing up in Hawaii.
They were sold at Longs Drugs Stores. Please bring them back!!!
Howzit, Vicki!!! Yes, yes, yes!!! Those Bader’s Dutch Shortbread Cookies were DA BEST, yeah? And, yes, Longs sold them. Good old hanabata days! Omg, I can’t wait for those famous cookies to return!!! My boyfriend is tired of hearing me go on and on about them, and the infamous “bottomless” blue tin. Each layer of cookies was separated by a white corrugated paper round, with a total of 3 layers. As a kid, it seemed like an unending treasure trove of cookie heaven!!! PLEASE bring them back soon, and let me know how I can get a dozen tins asap! Thank you very much!
I have a craving for these and miss them – especially the flavor and texture. I always had these growing up on Maui in the 80s and early 90s. My grandma always had a tin or two and enjoyed them with coffee. I remember when my grandma let me have a taste. When she saw that I liked them, she made sure she had another can so I could have some with every visit.
Please let me know when they will be available again. I’ve always wanted to share these delicious treats.
I loved the rosebud shaped cookies in the tube. Melt in your mouth, delicious. Hope they come back.
